LLC Tax Hearing 1/9/10:

Testimony- Howard Dickenson
Conway selectman asks for more time to hold hearings in the southern part of the state and what the people can do in regards to this process.

Testimony- Joseph Quirk
Joseph is the owner of Conway Cafe and complains about the cumulative effect of these taxes and how the NH Advantage has disappeared.

Testimony- Effingham Farmer
This farmer explains how she was forced to be an LLC and how many provision of this law will negatively impact her business.

Testimony- Gene Chandler
State Rep. Gene Chandler asks the DRA commissioner to take a message back to the legislature.

Testimony-Mike Monfet
Mike is the owner of Atlantic Pool and Spa in Conway and explains the amount of debt a business must take on start up and run.

Testimony- Janice Crawford
Janice is the Executive Director of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and talks about Mike Monfet's reaction when he heard about the tax. She also explains the spirit of free enterprise.

Testimony- Packy Campbell
Packy is from Farmington and is the owner who owns multiple businesses. He goes into great detail on how this tax will affect him even if he doesn't make a profit.

Testimony- Phil Blatsos
Phil is a board member of the Small Business & Small Industry Association and former DRA commissioner. He debunks the "closing a loophole" line and goes into detail about the difference between passive and active investments into a business.

Testimony- Ray Burton
Executive Councilor Ray Burton of District 1 says what he will ask the governor about this process.

Testimony- Robert Karnes
Robert drove all the way from Hampstead to inform the DRA about what negative impact this tax could have on his business.

Testimony- Tom Christenson
Tom is from Lyndeboro and shares with the audience what he wrote to Governor John Lynch.

Testimony- Steve Jeslin
Steve is a campground owner and talks about "reasonable compensation" and the importance of LLC owners of getting legislators attention.

Testimony- Tom Thomson
Tom is from Orford and son of the late Governor Meldrim Thomson. He aks the commissioner to take back to Concord the concerns of everyone who testified at these hearings.

Testimony- William Anderson
William is from Sanbornton is not a business owner and has a strong message for politicians.

Interview- Kevin Clougherty
Commissioner of the Dept. of Revenue Administration discusses the impact of the public hearings.

Interview- Betsy Patten
Rep. Betsy Patten of Moultonborough is a member of the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules which will decide if they will accept the final proposed rules by the DRA on the LLC Tax. Rep. Patten explains their role in this process.

Interview- Jeb Bradley
Sen. Jeb Bradley of Wolfeboro discusses his legislation to repeal the LLC Tax.

Interview- Ray Burton
Executive Councilor Ray Burton of District 1 explains his concerns about the message this tax sends and the question that's currently before the Attorney General. (about 15 seconds of audio gets cut off at the end due to run out room on recorder)
